How to Spark Joy in your Life

There are many things I love to do in life, and one of them is my work. Supporting clients in their healing and transformation while helping them reach their goals is one of my greatest joys. I feel deeply grateful for all those who have supported me on my own journey, and I wish the same for you—that you may also do the work you love.

Working for myself requires discipline in how I use my time and energy. As much as I love one-on-one sessions and workshops, the business side can be challenging. Unless I set boundaries, that part of the work never ends. Creating balance is essential.

I have discovered that when I give myself time to follow the other interests that I enjoy, I attract more clients, and opportunities come knocking at my door.

It’s all about the quality of our energy and how we feel. The more we tap into our joy, our vibration is automatically lifted.  We are in a state of flow, and good things are attracted to us.

So, what brings you joy? What makes you feel alive and aligned with your creativity? It may be something that you can create a career out of or use as an adjunct to your career. Remember not to judge as you let your heart rule in this exercise, and let your imagination soar. It might be something you could build into a career—or weave alongside it. The key is not to judge but to let your heart and imagination guide you. Ask yourself some “What if?” questions: What if I could teach tennis? What if I could write a children’s book? What if I could paint every weekend? Or volunteer somewhere that brings me joy? Perhaps it's getting a degree in something you always wanted to do but didn't have the time or wherewithal to do.

By following these sparks of joy, you not only nourish your spirit but may also discover new ways to share your gifts—and perhaps even be paid to do what you love.

 

What brings you joy?

Write your answers down in your journal or online, and meditate on them with an open mind and heart.  Be careful not to judge your answers; just let them flow and make it fun, as if you were a kid again.

  1. What activities make you feel happy and get you excited?
  2. What are the feelings associated with those activities? Remember, you can have more than one activity that brings you joy.
  3. Which of these activities do you lose track of time with? When we are truly doing what we love, we forget about time. We are in the ‘zone’.
  4. Would you do it for free? If you had enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life, which activities would you choose to spend your time on?
  5. What are your favorite things to discuss with others when given the chance? We get excited when we are passionate about something. If you are unsure what that might be, why not ask those around you what you are passionate about? You might be surprised.
  6. Last but not least, if you had a magic wand and no constraints, what would you love to be doing daily that makes you feel great inside? Maybe you are closer than you think!

I’ve always believed that anything is possible. When you dream it, believe it, and take consistent action, you move closer to making it real.If you find yourself resisting or procrastinating, you can use EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or journaling to explore those feelings.

  • Ask that part of you that is resisting what it is afraid of. Giving it a voice, not judging it, and being curious will be insightful. 
  • Do EFT-Tapping (Emotional Freedom Techniques) to move through and release. You are worth achieving your goals and experiencing joy.
