People Pleasing Coaching
You may not call it people pleasing. You might simply think of yourself as kind, thoughtful, helpful, or easy to get along with. And you probably are.
But there may be times when you say yes when you would rather say no. You keep things calm, avoid disappointing others, and take on more than you really want to. Over time, you become drained. People pleasing is a learned way of staying accepted, connected, or safe in relationships. But with the right support, you can change.
When Being Easygoing Costs You
Being easygoing can be a good quality, especially when it comes from you genuinely caring. You may be flexible, thoughtful, and willing to help. You try to understand other people’s needs and keep relationships peaceful.
But being “easy” can come at your expense.
You agree before checking in with yourself. You say yes because saying no feels uncomfortable. You keep your honest thoughts to yourself because you do not want to make things awkward. At first, it seems easier to stay agreeable, but over time, you feel tired, frustrated, or overlooked.
You wonder why others seem comfortable asking for what they need while you struggle to do the same.
People-pleasing coaching gives you the tools to change the fear, guilt, or pressure underneath the habit of saying yes. It supports you in creating healthy boundaries.
How People Pleasing Shows Up
People-pleasing can be subtle. It can look like being dependable, generous, or agreeable, but inside, you may feel tired, anxious, resentful, and unsure of yourself.
You might do any of these things in an effort to please and fit in:
- say yes before checking whether you have the time, energy, or desire.
- agree to things and later feel frustrated that you did.
- apologize often, even when you have not done anything wrong.
- avoid being honest because you do not want anyone to feel upset and angry at you
- explain your choices more than necessary.
- feel guilty when you rest, say no, or choose what works for you.
- find it hard to know what you want because you are used to thinking about everyone else first.
AN Invitation
If any of this sounds familiar, it doesn't mean something is wrong with you.
It means there is a part inside needing to heal and let go of some outdated beliefs. This is what I help you with so you can live more authentically. I invite you to book a no-pressure 20-minute call. You can ask me anything, and we'll see if we're a good fit to work together. I'd love to speak with you.
If You Feel Guilty Choosing Yourself
Guilt is one of the common reasons people stay in people-pleasing patterns. You may feel guilty for saying no, needing rest, disappointing someone, having limits, or not being available in the way others expect.
Even when your choice is reasonable, you still feel guilt that's stuck like glue.
That guilt can come from years of being praised for being helpful, responsible, strong, or easy to be around. It comes from experiences where your needs were ignored, criticized, or treated as inconvenient. You learned it by being in a family, relationship, or environment where keeping the peace was the only way you felt a sense of control and safety.
Choosing for yourself now feels uncomfortable, even when it is healthy.
This is why people-pleasing is not usually solved by communication tips alone. Scripts help, but they may not reach the underlying fear or guilt.
The deeper work is helping the part of you that feels guilty understand that having needs does not make you unkind.
- Setting a boundary does not make you selfish.
- Letting someone feel disappointed does not mean you have done something wrong.
You are allowed to be considerate of others without forgetting yourself.
How I Help?
I’m Gail Mae. For over 15 years, I’ve helped people release the fears, beliefs, and emotional patterns that keep them feeling stuck.
In people-pleasing coaching, we work with the part of you that learned to stay safe by pleasing others. We do not shame that part or try to force it to change quickly. We listen to what it has been trying to protect and work from there.
I use EFT, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques or Tapping, to calm the nervous system and release the emotional charge and the unsafe imprint associated with the underlying root causes of your guilt, fear of conflict, fear of rejection, and the need for approval. EFT is effective because people-pleasing patterns are felt in the body as well as the mind. You feel anxiety and tension when you try to say no or set a boundary. We release these with Tapping, allowing the parts to let go of old beliefs and adopt new, more authentic ones.
I also draw on Internal Family Systems, Matrix Reimprinting, and Grief work with tapping. We help you understand the different parts of yourself involved in the pattern. One part may want to be honest. Another part is afraid of upsetting people. Another part believes your worth comes from being needed, helpful, and easy to love. With this work, these parts learn new, more self-loving beliefs. You become more whole, integrated and confident in who you are.
Simply, working with Gail changed my life.
The shift in thinking and moving through the day dramatic. I had been stuck for a long time. Self-doubt, fear, and resentment were the norm. Gail’s mix of tapping, EFT, IFS, Reimprinting, talk (sounds daunting . . . process a smooth, safe surrender. released much that was old and made room for the new — acceptance, forgiveness, hope . . . Wonderful.
